Dutasteride® Mesotherapy in Combination with PRP-PRF or GFC

Dutasteride® Mesotherapy

& PRP-PRF or GFC Treatment for Hair Loss

Hair loss can feel isolating. However, you are not alone, and you do not need to guess your way through it. At The Hair Clinic, our doctor-led team uses proven, minimally invasive therapies that support scalp biology.

One option for suitable patients is dutasteride® mesotherapy used alongside platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

The goal is simple: to calm the hormonal drivers of thinning while supplying growth factors that encourage stronger, thicker hairs to cycle back.

What this Treatment Involves

PRP uses a small sample of your own blood. We concentrate the platelet fraction and place tiny injections across areas of thinning. Platelets release growth factors that signal follicles to extend the growth phase, improve blood supply, and support thicker hair shafts.

Dutasteride® Mesotherapy places micro-doses of a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor directly into the scalp. By acting locally on the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT, it targets the most androgen-sensitive zones with minimal systemic exposure compared to tablets.

Used together, the two hair loss treatment options address the problem from both angles: the cause in androgen-driven areas and the scalp environment that helps hairs grow well.

Note: Dutasteride® for hair loss is an off-label use. We cover benefits, risks, and alternatives in your consent process and tailor concentrations and placement to your history and goals.

Who This Suits

This combination is typically suited to men and women with early to moderate androgenetic alopecia who want a non-surgical option with little downtime. It can also be considered after pregnancy or illness once your clinician confirms safety. You will not be treated if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Certain scalp conditions, bleeding disorders, active infections, or recent isotretinoin use may require a delay or a different plan.

Benefits You Can Reasonably Expect

  • Reduced shedding as follicles exit the miniaturisation spiral and stabilise.

  • Improved hair density and calibre across targeted zones, most visible where hair loss is recent.

  • Short appointments and little downtime, usually mild redness or tenderness only.

  • Lower systemic exposure than daily oral medication, due to local delivery.

  • Fits into a broader plan, such as at-home low-level light therapy, topical stimulants, nutrition, and stress management.

Results vary from person to person. Genetics, duration of thinning, hormonal status, medications, nutrition, and scalp inflammation all influence outcomes. We will show you baseline photography, then track objective change over time so you can see progress, not just guess it.

Your Recommended Treatment Plan

Induction: 6 treatments, one month apart.
Maintenance:
Every 3 months to hold gains, with the exact interval adjusted to your response.

  1. Check-in and imaging
We review shedding, scalp comfort, and any changes in health. Standardised photos are taken to document density and areas of hair loss distribution  (delete this-and trichoscopy document density and shaft characteristics).

  2. Preparation
The scalp is cleansed. A topical anaesthetic can be applied for comfort.

  3. PRP preparation and placement
Your blood is processed to create PRP. Micro-injections are placed across thinning zones, typically at 1 cm spacing.

  4. Dutasteride mesotherapy
Small volumes are placed intradermally in androgen-prone regions such as the frontal scalp and vertex. We tailor concentration and mapping to your case.

  5. Soothing and finish
Cooling, light scalp massage, or red light therapy may follow. You can return to normal activity the same day.

What Happens During Each Visit

  • Expect mild redness, tightness, or pinpoint bruising for 24 to 48 hours.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, and heavy styling products for the first day.

  • Wait 24 hours before washing your hair, unless advised otherwise.

  • Use gentle shampoo, protect your scalp from harsh sun, and keep well hydrated.

Aftercare

Timeline of Results

  • 4 to 8 weeks: shedding usually settles. Hair may feel fuller to touch even before photos show clear change.

  • 3 to 4 months: early texture improvements and new baby hairs around the hairline or part.

  • 6 months: clearer improvement in density in responders, with stronger coverage on photography and trichoscopy.

  • Ongoing: maintenance every 3 months helps protect gains against ongoing hormonal influence

We will adjust frequency if you are a fast or slow responder, and we will discuss complementary options if certain areas lag behind.

Safety & Transparency

This is a well-tolerated, minimally invasive option. Expected effects include transient redness, tenderness, small bruises, and rarely temporary frontal puffiness from fluid shifts.

How it fits into a complete plan

Great outcomes come from a consistent routine rather than a single intervention. Alongside dutasteride mesotherapy with PRP we may recommend:

  • Low-level light therapy at home to support mitochondrial activity.

  • Topical stimulants as advised by your clinician.

  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance, including iron, vitamin D, and stress support if needed.

  • Targeted scalp care to reduce micro-inflammation.

Surgery is not the first step for most people. Many patients find this combination gives them visible and maintainable improvement without downtime, and those who later choose transplantation often keep this regimen to protect native hairs.
